Tata Motors claims that the soon-to-be-launched Punch will be the safest micro-SUV in the country
Even as its exterior and interiors have already been revealed on social media, there is still a lot to learn about this new SUV which will take on Maruti Suzuki Ignis and Mahindra KUV100 NXT in its segment. ready for Today, Tata Motors has revealed all the details about its upcoming mini SUV – Punch.
Tata Punch Design
The Tata Punch is the second model to be based on the Agile Light Flexible Advanced (ALFA) architecture after the Altroz hatchback. The exteriors have been designed using the Impact 2.0 philosophy, which is seen in all new Tata cars. There is thick plastic cladding all around to make the small car look like an SUV.
At the front, there is a gloss black grille with split headlamp arrangement. At the rear, there are wrap-around taillights with triple-arrow LED signature. The top variant will get a dual tone color paint scheme, while it will be powered by contrasting black and silver diamond cut alloy wheels.
Tata Punch Variants and Packs
Tata Motors is moving away from its traditional variant naming strategy, which is usually XE, XM, XT and XZ. As for Punch, they are now introducing a new variant naming strategy. The five forms are called – pure, bold, complete and creative. Pure is base, adventure is above that, accomplishment is above adventure and top is creative. Given below is a list of detailed variant-wise features on offer with the Tata Punch.
The Tata Punch Pure variant will be offered with MT only, while other variants will be offered with MT as well as AMT option. Apart from the variants, customers can also opt for packs – providing additional features. Based on the variant, you have to choose the pack. Available packs are Rhythm, Dazzle and Ira. Given below are the pack details on offer with Tata Punch.
The dimensions will stand at 3,840 mm in length, 1,822 mm in width and 1,635 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,450 mm. This means that the punch will be bigger than the Maruti Ignis. Another feature of the new punch will be its door opening feature which is at 90 degrees. It is also on offer on Tata Altroz related to better entry and exit.
There are total 7 colors on offer with Tata Punch. These are Orcus White, Atomic Orange, Daytona Grey, Meteor Bronze, Calypso Red, Tropical Mist and Tornado Blue. Below are the Tata Punch color options.
The interior of the punch carries many of the features of the Altroz. These include a similar dashboard design and a semi-digital instrument cluster with a 7-inch display unit that shows current gear position, rpm, fuel level, trip meter and empty distance. A 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and Harman sound system will also be part of its interior make-up.
It also comes with Tata’s new IRA Connected features. The Tata Punch will also get a flat bottom steering wheel, square-shaped AC vents and cruise control with various drive modes and auto headlamps and wipers. The safety equipment will be dual airbags, rear parking sensors and camera, apart from ABS and EBD.
A 1.2L petrol, 3 cylinder engine with Dynapro powers the new Tata Punch. This is the same engine that also powers the Tiago, Tigor and Altroz, producing 85hp power and 113Nm of torque with the options of a 5-speed manual gearbox and AMT. The launch is to take place in the coming days. The price range of Tata Punch is expected to be in the Rs 5-8.5 lakh segment, ex-sh. The bookings have officially started online as well as in dealer showrooms for an amount of Rs 21k.
