MG Motor Buyback
If you are an average Indian, once you have bought a car, it is expected that you will continue to own the car for the next 5-7 years (at least) However, what would you do if a newer, improved version became available in the market? Usually, for financial reasons, you’ll pass on that upgrade and wait another 2-3 years before planning for the next vehicle. However, if your car’s OEM is really keen to retain you as a customer and plans to offer some very interesting value propositions, things can change drastically.
Interestingly, a Karnataka-based owner of a pre-facelift MG Hector traded his old Hector for a new 2021 model and spent just INR 1.69 lakh in the exchange process. He bought a brand new 2021 MG Hector Diesel MT – Sharp trim in Silver colour. The cost of purchase including taxes was INR 18.69 Lakh.
However, as he exchanged his old Hector, the customer got a strong compensation of INR 17 Lakh for his pre-facelift Hector. The exchange value offered by MG’s showroom is astonishing, as the customers managed to realize over 96% resale value of their old Hector. Incidentally, the previous model was also the top of the line trim of the Hector like the current Sharp MT. The transaction took place at MG’s Bangalore based dealership – Jubliant Autoworks Pvt Ltd. Ltd.
car exchange process
Most of the OEMs offer exchange facility in their showrooms. It helps customers to get a one-stop solution for selling their previous car and planning to buy a new car under one roof. Additionally, most of the OEMs offer huge discounts if the car being traded in is also of the same OEM brand.
However, getting the option to get more than 96 percent of the value on an exchange is relatively unprecedented in India. Such an offer becomes extremely attractive to the customer and it will surely help MG to retain more customers in its family in future.
MG sales performance
MG has been registering a steady month-on-month sales growth, despite frequent price hikes. In the month of March’21, MG Motors registered its highest ever sales numbers in India. In all models inclusive, MG managed to sell 5,582 units in March’21. The numbers are led by the combo of MG Hector and Hector Plus, while models like the ZS EV and Gloster have also done well. Hector and Hector Plus registered total sales of 4,720 units in March’21, surpassing even the combination of Harrier and Safari.
