Maruti Suzuki’s total domestic sales and exports recorded at 1,62,462 units in July 2021
MSIL reported total sales of 1,62,462 units in July 2021, up from 1,08,064 units sold in July 2020. A meaningful comparison is not possible given the disruption in the market due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Of this, domestic PV sales stood at 1,33,732 units. Sales increased by 36.78 per cent from 97,768 units in July 2020. Exports also increased, from over 7k units a year to over 21k units.
Maruti’s market dominance is largely due to the performance of its mini and compact segments. Growth in this segment is significant, and MSIL has a wide product portfolio. In the total domestic sales, the mini and compact segment accounted for just 90k units from 68,787 units in July 2020, the major contributor.
Maruti Car Sales July 2021 – Compact Segment
The Mini segment (Alto, S-Presso) registered sales of 19,685 units, while the compact segment (WagonR, Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno, DZire, Tour S) registered sales of 70,268 units. Utility vehicles (Ertiga, S-Cross, Vitara Brezza, XL6, Gypsy) registered decent growth, selling 32,272 units in July 2021.
Ciaz sales were just below 1.5k units. The broadly defined UV segment has 32,272 units. More than 10 thousand units of Eeco Van were sold. The product also caters to a range of applications. Super Carry LCV sales stood at 2,768 units. Sales to other OEMs (Toyota) are reported to be 4,738 units.
The Indian auto industry is optimistic for the coming years with concerted efforts on growth in exports and domestic demand. Growth is expected to be broad-based as private consumption will drive growth with a shift towards private vehicles. Against this backdrop, the automotive industry is expected to maintain its strong performance for the next few years.
