All 25,000 units of the first batch of XUV700 bookings are now sold out. Mahindra revealed on its website that the bookings have now closed. The bookings for the XUV700 will now resume tomorrow, October 8 with the revised prices, which can be seen in the table below.

Price protection is valid for first 25,000 buyers only. From now on all customers will have to pay the price that is valid at the time of delivery. This means that there is no guarantee that you will buy your XUV at the above new prices. Depending on when your delivery is due, you may get changes at a higher price than listed above. Mahindra will reveal the details about the delivery timeline on October 10. The delivery of the petrol variant will take place before the diesel variant.

XUV700 vs Rivals

Where the design of a car is entirely a subjective thing and comes down to personal preference, the XUV700 gives its arch rivals in this category a run for their money. In terms of dimensions, the Hector siblings clearly outshine the others as they are the longest in this space at 4720mm while the XUV700 stands second at 4695mm. Harrier and Safari offer the widest cabin at 1894 mm. The wheelbase on offer is more or less the same for an SUV while the Safari tops out at 1786 mm.

In terms of performance, the XUV700 beats all its competitors in this matter. Both its petrol and diesel are more powerful and punchier than those offered in the rival SUV. In fact, the Tata sibling does not offer a petrol engine as of now. The petrol engine in the XUV700 cranks out 200 PS and 380 Nm while the oil burner churns out 185 PS and 420 Nm (450 Nm in the AT) of torque.

Mahindra is offering manual as well as automatic transmission in both the engine options while MG is offering one manual and two automatic gearbox options in the petrol mill. However, MG does not offer an automatic gearbox option on the diesel powertrain. Another important functionality offered by Mahindra is the option of an all-wheel drive which the other two brands do not.

Amenities on offer

Both Mahindra and MG offer a wide range of features on their offer, this is where Tata’s prodigious talents lag behind. The SUV gets the usual features like LED headlamps, panoramic sunroof, auto climate control, touchscreen infotainment system and connectivity technology like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Connected car technology is offered by all three manufacturers, however, MG and Mahindra offer a wider range of features than Tata.

Surprisingly, Tata offers its connected car Tech IRA in Safari but not with Harrier. However, the XUV700 knocks it out of the park with specifics like Amazon Alexa built-in and Level 2 autonomous features under ADAS (Advanced Drivers Assistance System). In this space, the SUVs have been given safety offers like six airbags, rear parking camera, traction control, electronic stability control and automatic headlamps.
